Construction at Lafayette coworking site to begin soon

The City of Lafayette and its partners on a new coworking space downtown are getting additional help from their project development contractor.

The board of works approved an extension for Jason Tennenhouse Tuesday. The previous agreement expired last week.

Economic Development Director Dennis Carson says Tennenhouse will continue providing his design and strategy services through December.

“Part of that was doing the brand identity, so we had the name of the place – MatchBOX – and the logo and marketing materials around that,” he says. “Space planning – so, he’s working directly with our architects.”

Tennenhouse’s contract is for no more than $77,000. Lafayette Urban Enterprise Association and Greater Lafayette Commerce are working with the city on the project.

MatchBOX is on south 6th Street, next to the county library.

Carson says Tennenhouse also is working on the organizational structure.

“We created an LLC – MatchBOX, LLC – which is going to operate and be the advisory committee to the entity.”

MatchBOX is located next to the Tippecanoe County Public Library on south 6th Street. The library owns the former Stein Building and uses the front portion for some storage and library services space.
