Indiana State Police looking for trooper applicants

Future Indiana State Police troopers have an upcoming deadline to meet.

Friday (Nov. 25) is the last day I.S.P. will accept applications to join the 72nd Recruit Academy. It runs from July to December of next year for 24 weeks.

Sergeant Kim Riley says anyone who wants to be a trooper should be self-motivated. Applicants must be between 21 and 40 years old before next December.

Riley says as many as 400 current state troopers are expected to retire in the next 3-5 years. He expects up to 3,000 applications with 60-100 people being accepted into the academy next year.
