Juvenile Suspected In 2017 Church Vandalism Also Suspected In Carmel Synagogue Case

(WFIU/WTIU News)

Law enforcement officials say they’ve arrested a 17-year-old suspect in connection to a string of church vandalism across Brown and Bartholomew counties last summer. And police say the juvenile is the same person suspected of vandalism at a Carmel synagogue in July.

Brown County Sheriff’s Department Detective Brian Shrader says his office received a tip from the Carmel police department this week that led them to the suspect.

“There was just a possible association with our areas and we didn’t know what it was, or anything like that so it was just something we had to look into,” he says.

Police aren’t releasing the juvenile’s name.

They also arrested Renzo Signorino. He faces charges of theft, burglary and institutional criminal mischief for vandalism at four Indiana churches.

Shrader worked with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI in the investigation.

Additional charges for Signorino in Bartholomew County are still pending as well as charges against the juvenile who they say is connected.
