North Street Reconstruction project moving forward
The city of Lafayette will pay roughly $1.7-million to replace a brick road downtown.
The Board of Works approved a contract for the North Street reconstruction project this morning.
The first phase will be east along North Street from 9th to Erie.
Phase two will extend from 9th Street west to 7th Street.
In addition to replacing the brick the work includes a combined sewer overflow project.
This will help store and divert water from running into the Wabash River during heavy rain.
Construction is expected to begin in the next week or so and run through September.
