Purdue Galleries Global Matrix 1/12 Preview

Global Matrix IV is a contemporary review of fine art printmaking in all media from around the world. This year’s exhibit presents a total of 96 images by 73 artists from 15 countries around the world. WBAA's John Clare spoke with Craig Martin, director of Purdue Galleries about the series.

Previous installments of Global Matrix were presented in 2002, 2007, and 2012. This year it will be on display through February 18th. From 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, January 12th, Purdue Galleries hosts receptions in both the Ringel Gallery in Stewart Center and the Fountain Gallery in downtown Lafayette.

The Robert L. Ringel Gallery is located in Stewart Center on Purdue’s main campus. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 8 p.m. on Thursday. The Fountain Gallery is located at 330 Main Street, Lafayette, in the historic Perrin Building. The gallery is open noon to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

John Nasukaluk Clare is comfortable behind a microphone, streaming video or playing violin. A former broadcaster for NPR, John has previously worked with Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and stations in Texas, Kansas, Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania. In 2005, Clare earned the Deems Taylor Award from ASCAP for radio broadcasting, citing his work on 20/20 Hearing. Having performed with famed tenors Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli, John has worked with the Mozart Festival Texas, Mid Texas Symphony, Nevada Chamber Symphony, Shreveport Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic and Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
