Purdue students helping Indiana tornado victims

Residents of tornado ravaged areas of southern Indiana will be getting help from some Purdue students this week.

A group of more than 100 international students is spending Spring Break in Marysville and Henryville, two of the hardest hit communities.

They will primarily be picking up debris and sorting donated items.

Steve Cain is a Disaster Communication specialist with Purdue Extension.

He says more than 2,500 people put in nearly 20,000 volunteer hours in the area over the weekend.

Cain says the total value of those efforts is roughly $376,000.
