WL to pay more for health insurance in 2012

The city of West Lafayette will stay with the same health insurance provider for 2012.  But the cost of coverage from Anthem will increase by nearly 20%.

City Human Resources Director Diane Foster says the employee contribution toward insurance will remain the same in 2012.  However, she cannot make the same guarantee for 2013.

Foster notes that the cost of vision insurance is not going up next year, and dental coverage will only increase slightly.

The West Lafayette city council approved the 2012 spending plan with a 1.5% raise and $500 bonus for city employees.  The total cost of next year's spending plan is $16.7 million.
