Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller officially launched his reelection campaign at the Statehouse Friday.
Greg Zoeller was first elected as the state Attorney General in 2008. Zoeller previously worked as the chief deputy to his predecessor, Attorney General Steve Carter, making him the first AG elected after having previously served in the office.
In order to run in November’s general election, Zoeller will first have to be nominated at the state Republican Party’s convention in June. Zoeller received support at his announcement Friday from several county prosecutors, a county sheriff and House Speaker Brian Bosma.
Zoeller says he’s looking forward to expanding the role of the Attorney General.
“There does need to be more of role for the Attorney General to serve the most vulnerable people in our society and I may need more authority from my friends in the legislature.”
Zoeller says he will announce specific initiatives after the convention, which is June 9th. The Democratic Party State Convention is June 16th. No Democrat has formally announced in the attorney general's race.
