IN Packers Corp. to open health clinic

Credit Indiana Packers Corp.

Franciscan Saint Elizabeth Health and Unity Healthcare are partnering with a Delphi employer to open an on-site clinic. Indiana Packers Corporation has about 2,000 employees.

The company hopes to cut down on health care costs by offering the clinic to workers and their dependents, a number that approaches 4,300 people. It will focus on primary care services with preventive screenings and wellness education.

Intersection Connection has new partner

A collaborative effort in Lafayette is growing.

Indiana University Health Arnett is joining the Intersection Connection partnership that aims to improve the lives of area youth. The medical group will open a health clinic at the yet-to-be-built Lafayette Family YMCA facility on the Ivy Tech-Lafayette campus.

IU Health Arnett C.E.O. Al Gatmaitan says having both organizations under one roof has many benefits. Those include cost sharing and transition of medical patients to healthy lifestyle practices offered by the YMCA.

Grant money pledged to revitalize downtown Crawfordsville

Crawfordsville’s Main Street Program hopes to strengthen businesses downtown and lure more to set-up shop.

The organization received a  grant of $8,975 from the Montgomery County Community Foundation to do that.

Main Street President Jon Dantzig says the series of presentations and panel discussions were developed based on feedback from downtown business owners.

"Some weren't even members of Main Street at the time, but said if this is the type of thing the program would be doing, they'd join, because they see it as direct benefit to themselves."

Purdue touts successful fundraising year

Purdue is reporting a nearly $300 million year of fundraising.

For the fiscal year that ended June 30th, Purdue raised $298.8 million. According to the university, that’s the second highest fundraising total in its history and 32% more than what was raised in the previous fiscal year.

The record for fundraising was during fiscal year 2003, which brought in almost $311.7 million during the “Campaign for Purdue” effort under President Martin Jischke.
