Purdue professor wins poetry award

Copper Canyon Press

This year’s Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award is going to a Purdue professor. Marianne Boruch won the honor and its $100,000 prize.

It’s given to a mid-career poet from Claremont Graduate University. Boruch won for her 2011 work, The Book of Hours.

The professor of poetry and creative writing has been teaching at Purdue since 1987. Boruch developed and directed the M.F.A. Program at Purdue since its beginning in 1987 until 2005.
