Event Description

Untitled with Woodpeckers

PLEASE NOTE: The museum is open to visitors Sundays (1-4PM), and 11am-4pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays. FREE advance reservations and masks are required for entry to the museum galleries. See our website for tickets and more information, under the VISIT tab. Many pieces of artwork are considered during the development of an exhibition. Lists of potential artwork are made and then those lists are narrowed down many times until the final artwork is selected for display. The scope and direction of the exhibition's theme largely influences those choices. Other factors can include the medium, future or current exhibitions, how recently a piece has been on display, and so forth. Inevitably, there are always splendid works of art that are not included because of one reason or another. Often, the reason is simply that there is another work of art that is more suitable for a given theme or there just isn't enough display room. These pieces can be uniquely idiosyncratic. This exhibition is dedicated to those quirky pieces that may or may not fall within a typical exhibition selection process. Instead, this exhibition is made up of those interesting pieces and will hopefully show viewers an added depth to what the Art Museum's Permanent Collection has to offer. The medium, style, and subject matter is varied, but the consistent trait is their beautiful originality.
