Tippecanoe County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 11 Saturday, one day after the health department announced the first county death from the novel coronavirus.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported 1,232 positive cases and 31 deaths in its daily update Saturday. The department has also started providing a demographic breakdown of those confirmed cases. As of Saturday, the 50-59 and 60-69 year old age groups had the highest share, with 17.7 percent each; those 19 years old and younger had the lowest, with 1.7 percent.
Indiana residents are under a stay-at-home order issued by Gov. Eric Holcomb to stop the spread of the coronavirus. On Friday, State Health Commissioner Kris Box said state cases were likely to peak in mid- to late- April -- after the order is currently scheduled to end, on April 7. Gov. Holcomb said he would extend the order if needed.
