Tippecanoe County Health Officials Urge Caution As COVID Cases Continue To Fall

Tippecanoe County health officials say COVID cases have continued to move in a favorable direction across the county.

At a press conference on Wednesday, the county reported one of the lowest percent positivity rates in roughly six months.

Even as numbers move in a positive direction, health officials noted that the mix of March Madness and spring break travel could reverse those trends.

Health Officer Dr. Jeremy Adler urged residents to continue wearing masks and social distancing - especially if they gather with people outside of their household.

“While this is an exciting time for our community, it is important that we celebrate carefully,” he said. “Remember that COVID-19 spreads easily in crowded indoor spaces.”

Vaccinations are moving ahead slowly. Currently, the county has appointments booked through about mid-April.

The county is currently up to 11 cases of the UK Covid-variant. Adler said it will likely become the dominant strain across the country.
