Purdue Extension director candidates on campus

The next phase of the search for a new director of Purdue Extension begins Tuesday. The four finalists for the job will be on campus this month for more interviews. The position also includes serving as an associate dean of the Purdue University College of Agriculture.

The successful candidate will succeed Chuck Hibberd, who accepted a similar position at the University of Nebraska in October.

"Our Extension director has a big job in overseeing the idea of helping bring science-based information to the people of the state, measuring the impact of our programs and efforts, and building a diverse, inclusive and high-impact organization," says Jay Akridge, dean of Agriculture.

The sessions, all of which will be held in Deans Auditorium of Pfendler Hall, are open to the public.

The candidates and the date of their presentations (all 9-10 a.m. EST), are:

  • James Mintert, interim associate dean of Purdue's College of Agriculture and director of Purdue Extension; Feb. 12.
  • Jason Henderson, vice president and Omaha Branch executive, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City; Feb. 19.
  • M. Ray McKinnie, administrator and associate dean for Extension, School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, N.C.; Feb. 21.
  • Ben West, Western Region director and professor, The University of Tennessee Extension. Feb. 27.
