County officials looking to add air conditioning to fairgrounds building

Events at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds could soon be more comfortable.

Commissioners are planning to have air conditioning installed in at least the Home Economics building, and possibly the Exhibition Hall as well.

Dave Byers says the county is losing out on a lot of rental revenue such as wedding receptions and auctions because the buildings are too hot in the summer.

He says the project is expected to go out to bid in May.

Byers would like to have the air conditioning installed in time for the annual 4-H Fair in late July, but he isn’t sure if that will be possible.

He says private donations along with money left over from building the new cattle barn at the facility will pay for the work.
