Group searches for solutions to homelessness

A collaboration of organizations is closing in on what are the best strategies for combating homelessness in the area.

They are working together as part of a program called “Solutions Beyond Shelter.”

Lori Phillips-Steele is with the Corporation for Supportive Housing.  She says the goal is to provide strategies that work immediately and in the future.

She says there are about 900 people using homeless services in Tippecanoe County and adds that not finding them permanent housing effects the whole community.

A community feedback session is set for Friday from 2-4 p.m. at the Rohram Auditorium at Lafayette Jefferson High School.

Then, the organizations will use that information and the information gathered over the past two days with community leaders to compile a final report.

That will be released Monday.
