Commissioners delay vote on proposed duplex development

Neighbors of a proposed duplex development just outside of West Lafayette will have to wait at least two more weeks for County officials to vote on the project.

Commissioners this morning tabled discussion on the development, which is planned for land between Kalberer Road and County Road 500 North.

At issue is what zoning designation is appropriate for the project.

Commissioners gave the developer and Area Plan Commission officials two weeks to come to a decision.

Commissioners are scheduled to consider the issue again at their October 15th meeting.

Opponents of the development say the amount of traffic and density would detract from the makeup of the area.

Scheuman Properties argues it would benefit young professionals in the area by offering an alternative to student housing.
