Imagination Station reopening after "rejuvenation"

Lafayette’s Imagination Station reopens Saturday, February 9, after a month-long overhaul. The so-called “Project Rejuvenation” in January allowed for the installation of a new exhibit and upkeep of existing ones at the science center.

Board President Brian Bettag says this is the second straight year such an update has taken place, and thinks the results are worth it.

"We have a T56 gearbox from Rolls-Royce. Their Heritage Trust Foundation rebuilt one for us that we used to have. Now we have something for the kids to use. We have two Ivy Tech students who created two exhibits - a Mars Rover and a new and improved Dino Dig."

He says from a financial standpoint, Imagination Station is in better shape, but they hope to get more members and volunteers this year.

"We have one request for general work - the front desk or work demos. We have another one for artists, because we need to have some more artistic signage that some of us are not exactly skilled at. I think there was even a request for board members."

Bettag says with more volunteers, Imagination Station could expand its hours during the week for school field trips.

Saturday morning’s open house is admission-free. It begins at 9 a.m. for members and 10 a.m. for the general public. More information about the Imagination Station is HERE.
