An area nonprofit is celebrating the success of its annual food drive.
Food Finders Food Bank launched its 3rd annual Drive Away Hunger campaign in late October with the goal of collecting 150,000 meals.
The community-wide initiative wrapped up December 2nd and brought in 155,976 meals.
Food Finders is continuing its efforts to keep shelves stocked during the winter months.
Through December 31st, all new and increased online donations will be matched dollar for dollar by the Hussman Foundation.
According to recent statistics from Feeding America’s “Map the Meal Gap”, nearly 86,000 residents in the Food Finders service area are food insecure.
Nearly 30,000 of those residents are children.
