Purdue exhibit sparks interest in science

An exhibit at Purdue has been designed to inspire young people to pursue a career in science.

The El Aguila Mine exhibit features interactive and multimedia displays that explain how gold and other metals are extracted from the mine.

College of Science Dean Jeff Roberts says it exposes young people to a career possibility they might not otherwise have considered.

The museum-quality display is located in the Hampton Hall of Civil Engineering.

Purdue alumnus Bill Reid funded the exhibit.

He is CEO of Gold Resource Corporation, which owns El Aguila Mine in Mexico.
