Results of Gallup-Purdue Index released

It’s not where you go to college, but what experiences you have while there that predict success in life after graduation.

That’s according to the Gallup-Purdue Index, which surveyed 29,500 people with a bachelor’s degree or higher and 1,557 with an associate degree.

The findings indicate six elements of the college experience contribute to high levels of workplace success and personal satisfaction, including having a professor who made a student excited about learning, working on a project that took a semester or more to complete, and being involved in extracurricular activities.

Purdue will use the national results as a benchmark when it conducts a study of its own graduates this summer.
