More than 4,000 open positions are available at the Hoosier Job Fair Wednesday in Lafayette.
Senator Dan Coats is hosting the event, along with local government and business leaders. He says the response has been overwhelming, with a little more than 100 companies signing up for the fair.
"This thing has just exploded, which I think says a lot for the state of Indiana and our recovery that's going on, but also the fact there's a lot of employers out there that are looking for good people to work."
Coats says everyone from CSX Railroad to Farmers Insurance to Frito Lay are hiring.
"We're hoping that we get a big turnout and ultimately, a lot of people find new jobs."
He says there’s a wide range of positions available throughout the state, although roughly half of the employers are from Greater Lafayette.
"A lot of these companies are from different counties, so people ought to come up from outside of Tippecanoe County. I think they'll be pleasantly surprised by the number of opportunities throughout Indiana."
He says there’s no cost to attend, but you should bring copies of your resume and be ready to talk about your skills.
The 2012 Hoosier Job Fair is at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds West Pavilion, 1401 Teal Road, Lafayette, Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information is available HERE.
