Cyber Monday means a burst of activity at Amazon's four Indiana shipping centers.

With fulfillment centers in Indianapolis, Whitestown, Plainfield and Jeffersonville, Indy is one of 16 metro areas where Amazon Prime customers have the option of requesting delivery within an hour of placing their order.

Spokeswoman Lyn Hart traveled to Whitestown for what she says will be the online retailer's busiest day of the year.

“It’s really steady throughout the day because customers can expect to find deals very frequently,” Hart says. “They can shop throughout the day.”

Hart says last year’s sales broke records and they’re projected to be even higher this year.

“Last year, customers ordered more than 43-million items worldwide on Amazon on Cyber Monday and that is a record-breaking 500 items per second,” Hart says. “In our [fourth quarter] earnings report, we announced that we expect between 14 and 25-percent growth this holiday season.”
