Anonymous gift to help make Purdue more affordable

An anonymous $5 million gift will help make Purdue more affordable for in-state students.

Matching components of the donation could nearly double the amount of scholarship endowments available.

Three-point-seven-five million dollars will create the Purdue Affordability Scholarship Challenge, with a match being offered for donations between $25,000 and $250,000.

Additional funds will be put toward the President’s Student Affordability and Accessibility Fund, which was set up to help Purdue meet its needs during the current tuition freeze.

That money will be raised with dollar-for-dollar matches during the university’s first-ever Day of Giving.

The April 30th online fundraising event will involve nearly 40 campus units.

The gift was announced during the President’s Council Annual Appreciation Dinner Saturday in Naples, Florida.
