WBAA News

This week on WBAA’s Ask The Mayor: across the country, people have been gathering daily to protest the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis. That includes demonstrations in greater Lafayette this week.

In our talk with West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis, we’ll discuss the city’s response to protesters, and what lessons have been learned about using force. How can officials show they’re listening to the concerns of residents, communicate with them clearly, and enact any needed reforms?

Plus, the mayor takes an official pledge to "review, engage, report, and reform" the use of force policies in West Lafayette.

*Program note: a technical issue cut out part of Mayor Dennis's first answer, so it's been removed for clarity.
