The Human Resources Director for Tippecanoe County says a wellness clinic for employees and their dependents is so popular the hours are being expanded.
Shirley Mennen says there will be an additional four hours per week to accommodate those covered by the county health insurance plan.
She says the facility in the basement of the County Office Building offers prescription medications, some medical testing, and free access to healthcare providers.
Mennen says the expanded hours will cost an additional $2,200 per-week.
But she says the county should see substantial savings by having employees utilize the clinic as opposed to seeing an outside doctor.
Mennen says the county spent 33% less on employee health care in 2011 than it did in 2010, partly due to the wellness clinic.
