Frankfort is a step closer to adopting an ordinance that its mayor says will encourage more people to explore the city.
The city council gave initial approval to a measure that allows residents to drive golf carts on local roads.
Mayor Chris McBarnes says doing this gives more travel options for people to take advantage of what Frankfort has to offer.
The City Council must approve the measure one more time before the law takes affect. That’s expected at its next meeting later this month
If it does, there are some parameters. Golf carts would be prohibited from driving on state roads and would have to receive a permit through the police department before going on city streets.
