Indiana’s colleges and universities are getting mixed grades from a national report.
Leaders & Laggards, which works in conjunction with the U.S Chamber of Commerce, gives the state’s higher education institutions an A-grade for their policy environment and innovative online learning.
However, four year schools received a D-mark for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The report also gave a D for student access and success at two year institutions.
The study analyzed eleven categories for every state, grading each with marks between an A and an F.
According to the report, it costs nearly $86,000 for a student in the state to finish their degree.
That ranks Indiana in the bottom five.
It does score well when it comes to the cost of completion at two-year schools.
Also, the state ranks in the top third in state and local funding for two-year programs when a student completes a degree.
Indiana serves nearly 240,000 students at its colleges and universities.
