Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump and other members of the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board are in Indianapolis for the group’s fourth meeting. The group joined Gov. Eric Holcomb Thursday for a tour of the Indiana Women’s Prison to learn about coding training offered to inmates.

The Last Mile is a workforce reentry program that trains coding, web development and other computer skills.

Program graduate Telesa Howe presented a website she created for a floral business she hopes to start once released.

“So it is with confidence that I can say that The Last Mile has offered me the tools to become a valuable asset to any team,” Howe says.

Trump says she is impressed with the program.

“What’s amazing also is you have, you are now equipped with these skills that are so sought after, that are so in demand,” she says.

Indiana was the first state outside of California to adopt The Last Mile program. There are now five classrooms in the state.
