LSO Lollipop Concert 2/9 Preview

Nick Palmerleads the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra in its annual "Lollipop" concert Friday, February 9th at 7:00 at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Lafayette. John Clare spoke with LSO Music Director Nick Palmer about the concert, which will feature Julie Baumann from Civic Theater of Lafayette in Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf.

Find out more here. Acttivities begin at 6 pm with the Instrument Petting Zoo, where volunteers are on hand to help children touch and try some of the different types of instruments they will see in the concert.

In addition to their evening performance, the LSO performs twice during the daytime for Symphony on the Go.  This free educational program, available only through schools, provides over 2,000 4th and 5th graders from schools in 14 surrounding counties the opportunity to hear a live orchestra!

John Nasukaluk Clare is comfortable behind a microphone, streaming video or playing violin. A former broadcaster for NPR, John has previously worked with Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and stations in Texas, Kansas, Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania. In 2005, Clare earned the Deems Taylor Award from ASCAP for radio broadcasting, citing his work on 20/20 Hearing. Having performed with famed tenors Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli, John has worked with the Mozart Festival Texas, Mid Texas Symphony, Nevada Chamber Symphony, Shreveport Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic and Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
