Lafayette Parks and Recreation officials are reviewing results of two surveys – one on the five year master plan and the other on Loeb Stadium.
Superintendent Ted Bumbleburg says 370 people responded to the master plan questionnaire and 640 gave input on Loeb.
“We did find, and it kind of goes along with the park master plan, that expanding trails and pathways are one of the big things to do in the city and parks,” he says. “Loeb Stadium just was on the repairs, or the renovation, is where we got the most responses.”
He says the master plan will be finalized in the coming months, but a timetable on stadium repairs is still unknown.
The renovation work required is estimated at $2.9 million to $4.5 million. Bumbleburg says the focus will be on updating the 75 year old facility.
“We do have some water infiltration,” he says, “concrete repairs and improve the appearance of the facility and do those types of things to help with the life of it.”
In making the repairs, Bumbleburg thinks that should make the stadium last another 25 years or more. The last major renovation project was completed in 1994.
