Negele defeats Young in IN House District 13

Attica Clerk-Treasurer Sharon Negele claimed the Republican nomination in Indiana House District 13 race.

She won 65% of the vote over opponent Dan Young.

Negele was the party’s nominee two-years ago in House District 42. She says that experience gave her more confidence going into this Primary Election.

"I knew what to expect and understood, to cover eight counties, the financial requirement. I was blessed to have strong financial supporters, which was critical to cover the district. I'm honored and overwhelmed by the endorsement from the voters."

Negele faces Democrat Mark Straw in the General Election. She says she knows a little about him, and says there are definite differences.

"On what we believe should happen on education reform. He's very pro-union. I support right to work. That's not to say I'm anti-union, because I'm not. I believe people have the right to choose if they want to be in a union."

House District 13 covers all or part of eight counties. Those are Benton, Fountain, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Tippecanoe, Warren and White.
