New Mayors In Monticello, Logansport; Evans Wins Again In Delphi

Democrat Cathy Gross defeated Republican Matt McKean in Monticello’s mayoral race Tuesday, taking home more than 56 percent of the final tally.

Gross, a long-time resident who currently serves as the city’s ADA and Title IX coordinator, says she was cautiously optimistic.

I know and love and work and play with the people here," Gross says. "They know me. They know I have the experience and the leadership to keep us moving.”

Gross says she’ll focus on bringing economic development to Monticello in an ongoing effort to attract and keep residents. She also says Monticello’s continued success depends, in part, upon the two parties finding common cause.

What we have to quit doing is living in our silos, and our reds and our blues," Gross says. "We have to start, and continue, working together.”

In Delphi, incumbent Mayor Shane Evans, an independent, earned a second term in office over his Republican opponent, Dale Seward.

In Logansport, the mayoral race was neck-and-neck, with Republican Chris Martin narrowly edging out incumbent Democrat Dave Kitchell 51-to-49 percent.
