New security measures in place for Indy mini-marathon

Some changes in security procedures will be in effect Saturday for the 500 Festival Mini Marathon in Indianapolis.

The changes come in the wake of the bombings at the Boston Marathon.

Festival spokesperson Megan Bulla says, in addition to increased security personnel on site, organizers are asking people to not bring backpacks to the event.

She says if you want to check a bag at the gear check station, the 500 Festival is asking that you use the white plastic bag that was given out to each runner at the Mini Marathon expo.

Bulla says non-runners will not be allowed into the corrals before the race begins.

A full update on the security changes can be found on the 500 Festival website.
