The American Lung Association is out with its annual air quality report. The study shows improvements from when the State of the Air surveys began 14 years ago.
The Lafayette-Frankfort metro area is average or slightly above average for pollution according to a new report. The Association gives the area, which includes Tippecanoe, Benton, Carroll and Clinton counties, a B grade when it comes to high ozone days. As far as particle pollution goes, the area earned a C grade for short-term pollution and a “Pass” grade for long-term pollution.
The metro area's rankings are:
- 155 for high ozone days out of 277 metropolitan areas
- 79 for 24-hour particle pollution out of 277 metropolitan areas
- 74 for annual particle pollution out of 277 metropolitan areas
The report shows 236,712 people live in the four counties and 9.5% of children and adults in the area have asthma. You can see the full report HERE.
