Purdue to collaborate with Houston Methodist Research Institute on drug discovery

A new collaboration involving Purdue aims to make the pathway from drug discovery to the marketplace more efficient.

The university is partnering with Houston Methodist Research Institute for research and educational initiatives, including clinical trials of drugs developed at Purdue.

Philip Low is a Chemistry professor and the inaugural director of the Purdue Center for Drug Discovery.

He says the goal is to find cures for diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and cancer, and to get those drugs to the patients who need them as soon as possible.

The partnership advances the priority of drug discovery as set forth in the Purdue Moves initiative.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by both institutions this morning.
