Purdue expert calls CVS decision a "bold move"

A Purdue retail analyst says CVS has made a bold move with plans to get out of the tobacco business.

CVS says it plans to stop selling cigarettes and tobacco products in its stores by October 1st.

Dr. Richard Feinberg says the pharmacy giant‘s decision is in keeping with current anti-smoking cultural values.

However, he says the move will certainly result in lost revenue which CVS will have to replace.

Feinberg says it‘s too early to say whether other pharmacy chains will follow suit.

He says the CVS decision will likely boost its health brand and standing in the healthcare community.

But Feinberg notes CVS still sells alcohol and junk food.
