“Sonja Peterson: Transverse Travesties” will be presented through Apr. 22 in the Robert L. Ringel Gallery in Stewart Center. Looking to historical events and science to help absorb present day dilemmas, Peterson’s large-scale cut paper and sculptural works attempt loose comparative analysis through imaginative narratives pulled from across time and varied literary sources.

“Color Expressions: Art and Design Perspectives” will be presented Mar. 7 through Apr. 22 in the Fountain Gallery in downtown Lafayette. Curated by Petronio Bendito, Ed.D. Associate Professor in Purdue’s Department of Art and Design, “Color Expressions” showcases a broad range of approaches in which the artists combined colors in expressive and evocative ways.  It features a selection of works presented in thought-provoking groupings that Bendito identified while surveying the Galleries collection for his research on color design methods, as well as works loaned from Purdue Libraries Special Collections and a private collection.

The Robert L. Ringel Gallery is located in Stewart Center on Purdue’s main campus. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 8 p.m. on Thursday. The Fountain Gallery is located at 330 Main Street, Lafayette, in the historic Perrin Building. The gallery is open noon to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
