Purdue president says review of emergency preparedness plan is underway

Purdue’s president says an initial review of how law enforcement and the university handled the fatal shooting and stabbing on campus last month are positive.

Mitch Daniels says a more thorough review is underway.

He says there is always room for improvement to emergency preparedness plans.

But he says as far as the events of January 21st, any changes to law enforcement or university response would not have changed the outcome.

Daniels says in this instance, the questions that need to be asked involve how troubled individuals can be identified and assisted before a tragedy occurs.

Purdue is accepting public comment on ways to improve the university’s emergency preparedness plan.

Suggestions can be submitted to the Provost’s office via the Purdue homepage.
