Purdue has launched a national search for the first chancellor of Purdue University Northwest.

The new institution is a unification of the Purdue University Calumet and Purdue University North Central campuses.

Purdue Trustee Gary Lehman is chairing the search committee, which is made up of faculty and staff from Purdue Calumet, Purdue North Central and other campuses.

He says a proposed salary range for the position has not been determined yet.

"We'll have to do a survey of what is a competitive compensation package," says Lehman. "So we've got a little work to do. That's part of the task that the committee starts looking at as well as if we hire a professional search firm to help us."

Lehman expects the committee to present a slate of candidates to Purdue President Mitch Daniels in early fall.

He says the new chancellor will be responsible for working with stakeholders from Purdue University Calumet and Purdue University North Central to form a set of shared values and priorities for Purdue University Northwest.
