From Sheriff To Commissioner, Brown Looks Back At Career And Ahead To New Role

Sam Klemet/WBAA News

Tippecanoe County will have a new sheriff in less than a month.

Tracy Brown is leaving the post because he has served two four-year terms—that’s the limit for a county sheriff in Indiana.

But he’s not leaving government service.

Brown was elected to the District One Commissioner seat and will be taking over that role January 1st.

He's currently helping sheriff-elect Barry Richard transition into taking over the department.

Brown says there have been a lot of changes since he started there in 1987, and those experiences will help him as a county commissioner.
