Tippecanoe County’s COVID-19 cases rose to 64 Friday, and the Indiana State Department of Health reported 656 new cases statewide, pushing Indiana’s confirmed count to 13,680.

ISDH also announced 35 additional deaths from the novel coronavirus, bringing the reported total to 741.

Tippecanoe County’s test total stood at 1,450 Friday. Statewide, 75,553 tests have been reported to ISDH. State officials said this week challenges remain for adequate COVID-19 testing in Indiana.

Gov. Eric Holcomb’s current stay-at-home order expires on May 1. Tippecanoe County officials cautioned this week that re-opening communities for business as usual would be a slow process, and the health department outlined a series of measures all essential businesses must take to ensure employee safety.
