Winter Storm Warnings posted for IN

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the WBAA listening area from late Saturday night through late Sunday night.

Meteorologists say central Indiana can expect snow to begin late Saturday night and become heavy at times on Sunday. Accumulation in excess of six inches is expected in Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe and Warren counties.

The Winter Storm Warning begins at 7 p.m. (EST)/6 p.m. (CST) for Benton, Jasper and Newton counties and runs through late Sunday night. Snowfall amounts are being forecast to total between six and ten inches.

Cass and White counties have a Winter Storm Warning from late Saturday night through late Sunday night with eight to 12 inches of snow expected. Those counties also have a Wind Chill Warning from late Sunday night to Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Blowing and drifting snow will become a problem Sunday night as winds increase. Meteorologists say the combination of very cold temperatures and strong winds may produce wind chills of 30 to 40 below zero from Sunday through Tuesday.
