At least five states have rolled out apps to help people alert their contacts if they’ve contracted COVID-19.
The first, called Covidwise, debuted in Virginia earlier this month. Eventually, 20 states and territories plan to release their own apps, covering 45% of the U.S. population, according to Google, which helped develop the technology.
