While Purdue University celebrates 150 years of Giant Leaps, this year the Purdue All American Marching Band is celebrating 100 years at the Indy 500. WBAA’s John Clare spoke with Dr. Jay Gephart, director of bands at Purdue about the performance.

Purdue Bands and Orchestras are performing four showcase concerts this weekend! Concerts begin Friday night and continue through Sunday at Elliott Hall of Music. WBAA's John Clare spoke with conductor Jonathan Sweet about the concerts.

Air, Land, and Sea is the program of the Gold and Black Bands at Purdue University. WBAA's John Clare recently spoke with Douglas Flecther from Purdue Bands about the concert Sunday, October 14th at 2:30 pm at the Long Center for the Performing Arts.

Purdue Bands & Orchestras 2013

The Purdue All American Marching Band (AAMB) performs at the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 (Indy 500) this Sunday. It marks the 99th year the band has participated. WBAA's John Clare spoke with the band's director, Jay Gephart about the tradition.

There are three chances to hear Purdue University bands this weekend! The Purdue Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Collegiate Band, Concert Band, Varsity Band, and University Band are all performing Friday, and Saturday afternoon/evening. Guest conductor Loras Schissel, a senior musicologist at the Library of Congress, is a leading authority on the music of Percy Grainger, and conducts the Blossom Festival Band. Bloomington Symphony Orchestra

Update 2/20/17: Adam Bodony will join the faculty as Assistant Professor of Bands beginning fall 2017. Bodony will serve as the director of the Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras and oversee the department’s Applied Music program.
