This program was broadcast on WBAA on March 4, 1983 as a tribute to Frederick L. Hovde, who had passed away on March 1. Dr. Hovde, for whom Hovde Hall was named, was president of Purdue University from 1946 to 1971, Purdue's seventh president.

President Ronald Reagan came to Purdue University on April 9, 1987 to speak during National Science and Technology week. The speech took place in Mackey Arena with more than 10,000 people in attendance and was broadcast live on WBAA. The program announcers for WBAA were Tim Vaughan and David Bunte.
