Peter Schickele will be 81 years young Sunday, July 17th. He's a composer who also "discovered" P.D.Q. Bach. Schickele says:
“I don't like the term serious music. It implies that all those other musicians like folk, jazz, and rock musicians aren't serious, when they are. The other reason I don't like it, is that it implies that there is this one box over here called serious music, and another box over here called funny, and there is no connection between them. To me, it’s a continuum.”
We'll hear music from composer Peter Schickele, and from P.D.Q. Bach as well! One of his best known skits, is New Horizons in Music Appreication, Beethoven's Fifth Symphony seen below:
What's New airs Sunday nights from 10pm to 12am, and Tuesdays from 8 to 10pm on WBAA Classical on 101.3FM and online at WBAA.org.
