Ivy Tech is ready to open up one of its campuses.
The community college plans to start hosting classes at its new Crawfordsville facility in January.
The City’s Director of Planning and Community Development Brandy Allen says the site is much needed for students in the area.
“We have several students from Montgomery County that were driving to Lafayette to Ivy Tech," she said, "so, because of the number of students we had that we were sending further away and making that less affordable for them, it was determined that that was a good investment.”
Crawfordsville is financing the entire $4-million project through bonds.
The building is the first in the city’s Commerce Park.
Allen says Crawfordsville hopes to build around it and attract new businesses to the area.
