"Celebrating Black Culture" Featuring Works by Bing Davis and Peter Rujuwa
"Celebrating Black Culture" is a show featuring works by Bing Davis of Ohio, and Indianapolis sculptor Peter Rujuwa. Bing taught at Central State University in Ohio for 20 years, and after retiring created the EbonNia Gallery in Dayton Ohio. Davis makes art from found objects and mixed media, and has worked with drawing, photography, sculpture and clay, but accounts clay as his most expressive medium. His works are in public and private collections around the world. Rujuwa creates world renowned hand-carved stone sculptures from imported serpentine stone, which are tribal art named after his tribe "Shona" of Zimbabwe. The name Zimbabwe itself means "houses made of stone."
