Program improves quality of life for cancer survivors through fitness

A program offered by the YWCA of Greater Lafayette is dispelling the idea that regular exercise is not appropriate for cancer survivors.

Coordinator Janae Kraud says the Cancer Wellness Program indicates physical fitness, especially in group settings, helps patients’ physical, mental and social well-being.

She says Purdue’s Department of Health and Kinesiology works with participants to determine the best exercise plan for their particular case.

Kraud says the program is open to men and women ages 18 and older who have had any form of cancer.

The next session gets underway September 9th.
